Find your joy; feed your passion
Meet Becca
Becca has been coaching Learn to Skate and private lessons since 2009. She loves working with beginners of all ages, and she especially loves adult skaters. Becca still actively competes and tests with USFS and believes that skating can and should be a lifetime sport. She helps skaters be their own RAY of sunshine on the ice and find their joy.

Adult Skating
Adults Skate, Too! It is entirely possible to find this sport as an adult and have a long competitive skating career. Every year, skaters in their 80's compete at the USFS Adult Figure Skating Championships. It is never too late to skate, and there are many ways to be involved. Becca LOVES working with adult skaters and can help prepare you for local, sectional, and national competitions. Becca is a partner in the skating journey for adult skaters and treats her skaters like the adults they are. Click here for more information about Adult Skating.
Synchronized Skating
Synchronized skating provides a team environment and allows skaters to continue to develop their skills in new and different ways. Becca can also help prepare you for synchro auditions or help you navigate interest in college skating programs. Click here for more information about synchronized skating.
Becca coaches Synchro with the North Iowa Figure Skating Club, and skaters interested in learning should sign up through NIFSC Learn To Skate. Currently, we have Synchro 1 and Synchro 3 classes available.
Music
Music cuts are $6 per cut and include an MP3 of the final cut.
Skaters must send an MP3, link, or detailed information about the song and what (if any) parts they are seeking to keep in the final cut.
Off-Ice
Check-inOff-ice lessons are $10 per 1/2 hour.
Beginner's Off Ice Class is $10 and class dates will be announced. Check in with Becca for details.
Online Off-Ice is available to students anywhere.
Custom stoning and beading
Becca can stone or bead your dress or costume at a reasonable rate. If you supply the stones, the cost is $10 per hour plus unused stones. If Becca supplies the beads, the cost is $10 plus the cost of stones (tax and shipping added). Becca will provide a "fix it kit" of matching stones. Custom non-dress pieces such as the headband pictured here start at $30.
Policies
Cancellation and late policy
All cancellations must be 12 hours before lesson time. After that, the skater will be charged for the lesson. Special circumstances/emergencies can be discussed privately. Skaters who are late for the lesson will pay for the entire lesson, but the lesson will end on time out of respect for other skaters. If Becca is late, she will adjust the price or the time to be fair to all skaters.
Ice Time
Ice time must be purchased according to the rules and regulations of the club or the rink.
Preparation and Equipment
Skaters should arrive on time wearing clothing appropriate for skating and skates that fit well. Leggings, athletic pants, or tights/dresses or skirts are appropriate. Skaters should have gloves and a jacket. Headbands and warm hats are also helpful in colder rinks. Coach Becca prefers that skaters not wear hoodies once they start doing backward skating and spins. Hair should be tied back or secured away from the face. Beginners should also have a helmet. All skaters should carry health insurance. Other helpful items include: water bottle, notebook and pen, tissues, soakers, and guards. If you need help/recommendations for equipment please talk to Coach Becca.
Skates should be supportive and fit well. If you can fold the top of your skate over, it is not supportive enough. Many "entry- level" skates are appropriate for lessons, but there are a lot of skates that do more harm than good. Becca can help you choose skates or make recommendations. Please do not purchase skates without talking to a coach or skate professional.
Payment Information
Payment can be at each lesson or once a week if you have multiple lessons. Other arrangements can also be made privately.
Payment is accepted via Paypal, Venmo, or Cash.
